Paraguay Muds:
A substrate with a very wide range of applications. At the same time, its versatility does not make it insufficient in specific conditions and breeding with very specific requirements. Commonly used in professional breeding of reptiles, amphibians and plants and in zoos.
– in a tropical terrarium:
This substrate is characterized by high water absorption. It can absorb a significant amount of water for a long time and maintain high humidity in the terrarium. But that’s not all! Due to its natural fungicidal properties, this substrate will not mold. Peat will behave as it does in nature, i.e. it can be moist for hundreds of years, maintaining life on its surface, e.g. plants or mosses. Therefore, it is recommended as the main substrate or an addition to other substrates in moist terrariums, or even partially flooded with water.
– dry terrarium:
This substrate will absorb any liquid. This is the reason why it is ideal for a terrarium with turtles. This substrate also allows for digging burrows, which every land tortoise will certainly check out. Peat, despite its origin, does not need to be sprinkled or constantly moist. Even “dried to a bone” it retains its natural properties.
– plant breeding:
Some plants require a low soil pH. Paraguay Muds peat has a pH of 3.5 – 4.5, which is very low. You can mix this substrate with others (even with soil) to obtain the appropriate pH (e.g. 5 or 6). Of course, peat, just like in nature, can be a stand-alone substrate for plants.
– for hatching eggs:
Peat has everything you need for successful incubation. It maintains humidity, does not mold or rot, has good thermal insulation properties and is soft. A much better solution than moss or vermiculite.
Powder Gradation:
This is the smallest of the gradations for Paraguay Muds peat. Its structure resembles soil with fine fibers. This allows for easy mixing with other substrates or quick arrangement as a homogeneous substrate. It provides the highest humidity and thermal insulation. Plants take root easily in this gradation. The substrate, in addition, provides stability for decorative elements such as roots, stones, etc.
Safety and freshness of substrates from the Heart of the Jungle series:
The Terrario manufacturer makes every effort to ensure that you receive a freshly “collected” substrate. Long storage times can adversely affect plant substrates. Therefore, Terrario is the only company that uses fast airlines to collect the substrate from its place of natural origin.
Volume and care.
The peat is dried, which guarantees 100% efficiency in water absorption. The peat can be sprinkled or even completely soaked before being placed in the terrarium. The volume in the package is 5l. However, after soaking (and tearing in the case of lumpy and fibrous), the volume of the substrate is larger.
The substrate is specially designed for:
– All Tortoises
– Crested Geckos
– Madagascar False Frogs
– Swamp Dragons
– Royal Pythons
– Tree Frogs
– Hermit Crab
– Eastern Fire-bellied Toads
– Horned Frogs
– Other reptiles that like high humidity
– All amphibians, including caudate amphibians
– Plants that like low soil pH.
